21 It's raining, man!
Strange. It's been raining throughout the weekend. It's already Monday but it seems the rain has no plan on stopping soon. It feels like I'm inside Naruto's world, in Amegakure where the rain never stops. I was also checking any news of flooding in Singapore. Luckily, only a small number of places had been flooded, not the same flood as those which hit Orchard Road last year. Three days of non-stop rain and still no flood in major areas. That's what you call a good infrastructure. Compare that to Philippines, in which three hours of slight rain equals flood three feet high. They say that there are no storms or typhoons here in Singapore, just rain or sun, that's it. Add to that the occasional windy weather.

1 10 Things To Do in Singapore
I made a list of ten things that you can do when you're here in Singapore. I haven't done two or three out of the ten things here, but still trying to do all of them. If you're going to visit Singapore and haven't planned your itinerary, you can include these pointers.

117 Exiting from Singapore to Johor Bahru and back
(Additional Update: 12 August 2011
Milca, a commenter on the 'Going through Immigration' post, notified and confirmed to us that the Singapore Immigration officials imposed a new rule when exiting and entering Singapore via Malaysia. You should stay in Malaysia for five(5) days before you can enter to Singapore again. This is a big change compared to the 24-hour-stay rule before. Although I haven't heard about this from other people, and didn't see this kind of announcement on ICA's website, it's a fair warning for those who plan to exit to Malaysia.)
Being denied in the immigration is a shocking and hurtful experience. Especially when you've put all your money and effort to find a job in Singapore and other countries for a better life. Currently, the Philippine Immigration is tightening their measures to prevent illegally recruited persons to fly out of the country. Singapore immigration is also doing the same on their immigration policies on people going in and out of the country.

18 Old Habits Die Hard
It all started when I was in 2nd year high school. I can still remember who brought me to that computer shop. The day I was introduced to the awesomeness of Counter-Strike.

0 Stupid Where Clause
Working hard on a brand new task, my only guide was a piece of half-baked document. It outlines the steps but not specific enough to make you guessing everytime you read each step. This task was handed over to me because the assigned person was going for an early Chinese New Year holiday. I have nothing against it, on the contrary, I love my job very much. I've been working on this project for several months now, and pretty much adjusted to the working environment. Accepting tasks is part of my job, and this will also expose me to greater work experience.

8 Invite Mr Wright contest is extended!
Yesterday, I was checking out the Invite Mr Wright contest website to see when the draw and announcement of winners will happen. Much to my surprise, the contest was extended until 7th of March 2011. This means you can still submit your entries to this contest. This also means that once you submit an entry, you stand a chance to win the grand prize: Trip for two to London and an afternoon with Ian Wright plus one Canon Legria HF R18 digital camcorder. The complete list of prizes can also be found on my previous post.

0 A Reminder to Jobhunters
For those of you who are planning to find work here in Singapore this month of February, please remember that the 3rd and 4th day is Chinese New Year and almost all of the establishments are closed during the time, especially companies. If you plan to go here, do so after the holidays to avoid using up the two days for nothing. Some companies also make Monday after the Chinese New Year a holiday, so please take note of this.

0 If you can't say it, blog it!
All of us -- including me -- have our own weaknesses. It might be something serious or it might be trivial. You might be weak on subjects like math or it may be like being unable to speak your mind clearly. While most of the people you know is great in speaking or conversing, there's a number of us that don't have the skill or guts to speak out and speak clearly.

4 Carpe Diem!
"Right here, right now."
It was a song of Fatboy Slim. A dance song where you hear only four words for the lyrics. You've guessed it, "Right here, right now." The song has only four words to say, however, this has a strong impact to me. Every time I hear this song through my good old iPod shuffle(2nd generation), I try to remember all of those opportunities that got past without me doing anything. This song always got me thinking of those chances that I missed. The chance to change, the chance for a better job, or the chance to meet an old friend.

0 I made it first on the SERP!
This is epic. For the first time in my blogging career (READ: roughly 1 month and 1 week long), I made it first on the Search Engine Results Page! And this is thanks to the two old dudes who recently fought inside a bus and yelling some Chinese.

2 An Open Letter
Click. That was fast.
Three weeks have passed. I didn't noticed the time.
Three weeks ago, we just arrived here. With smiles and hopes that we will have a great time together with our baby, still on her tummy. We planned to go here and there, visiting famous places around Singapore. We planned going together and having a good time and enjoying each other's company.

2 Always Mi Goreng
I'm a big fan of instant pancit canton during my college years. I used to prepare 3 packets of Lucky Me! Pancit Canton noodles and eat it in one sitting. Sometimes I eat pancit canton as a topping on a plate of rice but most of the time just pancit canton. I also eat the normal pancit canton, but that was only when I'm in my hometown where good pancit canton is served.

2 Let's commemorate this day..
Because this is the day I truly become a freelance writer. This day will be the first time I would submit ten articles as requested to me by my contact. Who would have thought that this will happen to me?
Just like an assassin for hire, only I use a keyboard as the weapon to create an article and get paid doing it. And I'm doing this job the other way around, we build up the target, not assassinate.

0 My Time In Singapore 2.0
As you may have noticed, I changed much of the design of this blog. I suddenly remembered something about a WordPress template converted for Blogger. The whole redesign is still unfinished, missing a unique header and some borders. I tried my best to customize the layouts and colors, but I can't figure out which line is for what in the html codes. So, please bear with me. Once I've finished this design, you'll see a better blog.
Watch out for more updates soon!

3 One month ago..
...I was thinking of creating a new blog of my own. I signed up for a Google account, opened up an account on Blogger and created my new blog. Actually, I have already 3 blogs hosted by Blogger, but I haven't been able to continue blogging due to many constraints like time, inspiration and motivation.
But this moment was a different case. I have my inspiration, renewed motivation and time.

578 Going through Immigration successfully
(If you find this article helpful, help others by sharing it on Facebook or Twitter by click the button beside this.)
It's always a hassle when you're going out of the Philippines, especially if you want to find work outside the country. Thinking of how to get past the immigration gate without any problems, I faced the same problems as the other Filipinos did. I want to share with you my experience and the lessons that I've learned during one of the lowest times of my life: I was once denied to get past that gate.

0 Day 7: A week later...
It's already a week after New Year. I almost never knew this Post-a-day challenge of WordPress if I didn't open my other Gmail account. Good thing I checked it out.
As I was reading through the Daily Post website, I saw disagreeing comments from numerous bloggers. This will prove to be troublesome, as I read those comments saying that this effort will just flood the blogosphere with crap posts. That the people behind this challenge never thought of the setbacks before letting this one out. That quality over quantity is better than the other way around.

0 I’m posting every day in 2011!
I’ve decided I want to blog more. Rather than just thinking about doing it, I’m starting right now. I will be posting on this blog once a day for all of 2011.
I know it won’t be easy, but it might be fun, inspiring, awesome and wonderful. Therefore I’m promising to make use of The DailyPost, and the community of other bloggers with similiar goals, to help me along the way, including asking for help when I need it and encouraging others when I can.
If you already read my blog, I hope you’ll encourage me with comments and likes, and good will along the way.
Signed,
Elmer
(I found this challenge from WordPress, and I'm taking this one seriously. I know it's late, but this will help me a lot. So if you're a blogger too who wants to write more, visit The Daily Post for more information. This is also a part of my New Year's Resolution)

0 Fried Hokkien Mee love it!
During my second week here in Singapore, I came across with this tasty dish. It's called Fried Hokkien Prawn Noodle. Well, it's what they call it in Hup Seng food stall in the hawker center near our flat. My sister calls it Hokkien mee. I call it the best stir fried noodles I've had... so far.
