0 Photo of the Day: Flower of the Unknown

Here's a photograph of a flowering plant - I don't know what - that you can find almost anywhere.

If you know the name, please tell me. I call this 7-Up.

0 Photo of the Day: Tilting Sea

For today's photograph, I'll be showing you an unusual phenomenon being observed near the beach of Singapore's Sentosa Island. It's called the "tilting of the sea", where ships and boats are required to maneuver carefully to adjust and position themselves to prevent being dropped into the deep space.

0 Photo of the Day: Walnut Brownie

Just a plain old walnut brownie. One of my favorite snacks. Or dessert. Or food.

Yummy!

(Someday I'm gonna bake this!)

0 Water Droplets

I've been playing with my camera today and thought of taking photographs of the water droplets suspended in mid-air. I know it's a cliche, but I really like to learn how to take those kind of pictures. So what I did was set up a plastic container and fill it with water. And then take a plastic back filled with water, hang it above the container and punch a small hole for the water to drip.

0 Name the Dish..

Tonight, I cooked a dish that I just made up. I thought I liked broccoli, and then I added shiitake mushrooms, carrots, a bit of cabbage, bell pepper, onions and garlic. I stir-fried it on butter, and this was the result.

4 Fish Fillet and Potato Salad for Dinner

Today, I went home earlier than the usual 6pm. I had asked for a half-day, because I need to process my OEC in the Philippine Embassy. Around 3:30pm, I was already at home. I only thought of the two dishes that I would cook for dinner after arriving at the house. So after resting, I went to buy some groceries.

2 Preparations for the Moon

Tonight, I came prepared. I went home before 7:30pm. Yesterday, the moon rose around this time. So I thought I'd come home early, as usual, then prepare my camera and tripod for the shoot.

3 Nighttime Photography at Marina Bay

I just got back from Marina Bay. We went there to practice taking photos at night. We went around Marina Bay to take both brightly-colored scenes of Marina Bay Sands near Merlion Park and the Business District side from the Helix Bridge.

0 Lessons learned.

Today, I learned how to do panning on the camera and taking pictures of moving vehicles. Unfortunately, the camera I used wasn't mine so I can't show you the photos. Next time I'll use my camera and post here my samples.

0 Portraiture

Just recently, I bought a new DSLR camera -- entry-level Nikon D3100 -- that came with the default kit 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 zoom lens. The reason I bought one is to pursue one of my passion, which is photography, and at the same time get good pictures for my baby. At first I was opting to get a point-and-shoot, but now I figured it was a good decision to get a full DSLR. Choosing SLR has many advantages compared to point-and-shoots. Although the price difference is very big, the photographs between the two has also a big difference.
