578 Going through Immigration successfully

(If you find this article helpful, help others by sharing it on Facebook or Twitter by click the button beside this.)

It's always a hassle when you're going out of the Philippines, especially if you want to find work outside the country. Thinking of how to get past the immigration gate without any problems, I faced the same problems as the other Filipinos did. I want to share with you my experience and the lessons that I've learned during one of the lowest times of my life: I was once denied to get past that gate.
Looking back, I already left the country for Singapore before. I had the final interview here, face to face with the client. My interview was successful and I was hired. But I still need to get back to the Philippines to finish my remaining time to my previous employer. After finishing the required days and preparing all the documents required by the employment agency in Singapore, it was time to come back to the Lion City.

Image from bloggerdesign.com
Passport? Check. Invitation letter? Check. In-Principle Approval? Check. Flight Itinerary? Check. All documents were prepared and shown to the immigration official. I told the officer I will be working in Singapore and showed her the In-Principle Approval from the employment agency. But I was denied! The officer told me that in-principle approvals are not valid documents and needs to be processed and approved by POEA, which will take several days to complete. My sister told me to try to a different booth, maybe a male officer who looks kind enough. I proceeded to a different immigration booth and told him that I'm just a tourist and going to Singapore for a holiday. Then he asked me about the printout of the flight itinerary going back from Singapore to Philippines. I can't show any copy as I have not booked a return ticket since I will not be returning for the mean time. I was denied again!

Then the final call for the plane I should have boarded came. I was left behind. It was disheartening. I almost cried there in despair. People queuing to immigration booths were looking at me. I have no idea what to do at that moment. I was in shock. That was the first time for me.

At that same day, I booked a two-way flight to Singapore and back, presented myself as a tourist, approved on immigration, boarded an Airbus A320 and landed in Singapore after a 3-hour flight.

Lessons Learned:
1. In-Principle Approval letters are just approvals in principle. It can't be presented in immigration to get past as a worker. It should be processed and approved by POEA before declaring yourself as an OFW to the officer.
2. Book a two-way flight itinerary if you're going to declare yourself as a tourist when going to Singapore(even though in reality you're going to Singapore to find work or to start working but the papers are not yet processed by POEA)
3. Bring extra money. You'll never know what will happen once you are inside the airport.
4. DO NOT resign yet on your current work. No one knows what will happen. It's better and easier to have a fallback in case your Plan A didn't push through.

That's it for my experience. If you're going out of the country, specifically going to Singapore, you might as well be prepared for the worst. I hope you read this very carefully and remember the tips so that you will never experience one of the worst experiences of my life.

The most annoying part of going out from our country is our own immigration officers here in Manila. In Singapore, no questions were asked from me when I went there last Oct 14, 2011, however, here in the Philippines, I was asked by an Immigration Officer to have an interview with the other Officer. The thing is, as long as you can answer all their questions confidently, they'll let you pass, if not then they will not allow you to board. That time there were several passengers that were offloaded. To avoid this, you should have sufficient cash depending on the number of days you'll stay in Singapore, and return ticket, reservation from a hotel, etc. Show them that you can afford to travel and don't let them intimidate you.

Hello there. My name is Jojo. Can I still use my passport if the immigration officer already put a departure stamp on it but later denied me exit when I was not able to provide their required documents like hotel booking and stuff? By the way I already have a two-way ticket and an invitation from my friend and a sum of show money as supporting documents. My previous Singapore trip(last year) was a breeze. But now I'm having second thoughts of spending my vacation abroad already. Is acquiring a new passport a good option? Have I already incurred any travel restrictions due to this issue? Your comments will be highly appreciated.

Hi. Im Precious, female, 25, travelling alone. This blog is really helpful.
I met a friend(indian) online who owns a recruitment agency in singapore and trying to help me to find a job. An employer called and interview me via phone and after a week he said that my E-Pass is already approved. He said that the cashier job will be available by 2nd week of Nov. So we we decided to book flight on Nov 4, (1 way) and stay with his condo while im looking for my accomodation.
My worries are how i can pass at philippine immigration.. after reading this blog, I know that i need to show as a tourist and book 2-way ticket, and bring show money; My questions are:
1. my last day in the company will be on Oct 31, because i already submitted my resignation. Can i still present my company ID on Nov 4? even im no longer connected with the company, Are they going to call the HR Dept to verify my status of employment?

Regards,
Precious

Hi, This is exactly what I need.
Lesson learned. If you are unsure about something, Google first if somebody out there had already been in the same position you are in to right now. I helps clears up everything.
and remember to "Learn from other's mistake."
Thank you for sharing your experience.

Hi Precious,
I think you should present your ID, I doubt they will notice that you are already resigned. And don't let them know that you already resigned from your work. I had been to similar situation, the first time I came here in SG. I told them that my company closed down a day before my trip and that I already surrendered my ID. So they asked me to proceed to the interview queue where I did nothing but wait. And by nothing, I mean nothing as in I just waited there and when my turn comes, they just photocopied my passport and let me run to the tarmac.. just waited there and ended up being paged in the airport being the last person to board. luckily I was able to make it.

Greetings!

I'm currently staying here at Singapore it has been my second month already.

Here's my situation:

I got hired 2 weeks ago so the employer asked me to submit all the documents needed. And so i did. He told me that he'll call me the week after. So he called me the next monday informing me that my SPASS application was rejected by MOM due to his company exceeding the quota. However I'm doubting if he really did key in my documents.

Question 1:
How can I verify if he really did key in my documents? I tried checking at the MOM's website though they need a NRIC.

Question 2:
If I'll apply through Consultancy Agents is there a big possibility that I may NOT rejected by the MOM?

Second Situation:
I met this one consultant agent, i told him my situation (stated above), and he insisted TEP as a pass for me. And I told him to wait for I will further read some information about passes and I found out that TEP is for OJT students only.

Hi. I arrived in Sg last Sept 2. I applied for another month extension online and it was approved, until November 1. Now, when I was about to buy a return ticket, I noticed that the entry pass given to me was actually 90days, not the usual 30 days, which is wierd. I am now confused which one to follow. Is it the 90 days stamped in my passport, or the MOM extension date of until November 1.

Please help

Hello... Your blog was be very helpful,I learned a lot from it when planning to be tourist in sg. maybe this month of november I went to SG for work I have may IPA already but as you say that IPA as not a valid shown at the immigration. that's why I have to present may self as a tourist, I plan to get my to way ticket 3 to 4 days and a booking at the hotel. But my problem is my pocket money is only 20 thousand pesos, do you think it was enough to shown at the immigration officer?

Anonymous said...

Hi Elmer,

I am currently working here in SG and applied my family for dependent pass and all got approved, I had all the IPA. I will be going back to our country to pick them up in person para less hassle sa mga IO natin.

had few inquiries though:
1) I make a call to our embassy here in SG, na kung ndi na pdeng bumili nang return ticket sa aking mag-ina.. and they say Yes as long dala ko lang ung IPA. But will this be enough assurance? even though na ako kasama nila sa pag pasok dito sa SG without a return ticket?

2) Do i still need a letter from my company to indicate na on process of issuance ang DP kasi kelangan andito sa SG personal ang pamilya ko?

iniiwasan ko sana manghingi nang letter sa company kahit IPA at kasama ako.. d pa ba sapat yun kahit wala silang return ticket?

Salamat po marami Elmer...

I got my Filipino maid to Singapore without going through POEA (got her from the Phils) but now I'm ready to send her back to the Phils for good. Will the Phils Immigration look for her POEA docs when she returns?

Thanks!

Hello there, ELmerger

My friend and I will visit Singapore for the first time (all girls). We

intend to stay though for 16 days (I know is too long). Will be going to Singapore as a tourist but the real plan is to find a job.

Ask ko lang kasi yun friend ko nasa Singapore is willing naman magsend ng inviation letter and copy of her passport. As you have said that the Inviation letter needs to be signed by officials from the embassy in Singapore. I asked my friend about this and she told me that once na may signed daw ng embassy at naka declare sa letter na tourist lang daw kami, magiging limited yun pag aapply namin or worst di kami makakapag apply ng work because Singapore is very systematic country so maaring malalaman nila na nag aapply kami. Sabi nya rin na hwag na lng daw ipakita yun inviation letter pag hindi naman nag ask ang IO, what if nag ask at hinanapan kami ng may signed sa embassy. So, we are planning to book a hotel or any accommodation just to present to the IOs if they ask for it .

Really appreciate your speedy response. Thank you in advance for any help you can provide.

sir elmer

my case, nakaalis na ako last time at nakapunta na ng singapore.
I'm direct hire and may IPA na ako last August. May minor na problem lang sa phil immigration pero nalusutan ko. So nakapagwork naman
ako but due to hindi direct related yung naging work ko pero pwede ko naman pagaralan at may konting discrimination dahil sinisiraan ako ng mga kasama kong ibang lahi. (ako lang pinoy) i decided na mag resign na lang.

Pero bago ako nakapag resign may nahanap agad akong work.
to make the story short, nadisapprove yung pass ko. so nagreappeal kami ng company. last oct 28 lumabas na yung IPA ko.
Ang iniisip ko this time... this is my 2nd time to go SG and 2nd time as tourist "kuno" sa phil immigration. Ang concern ko lang is dumating ako last oct 09, while waiting for the reappeal umuwi muna kasi ako.

In one month, baka makita sa passport ko kararating ko lang last month tapos aalis nanaman ako.
Anong magandang dahilan para makalusot ako sa PHI Immigration?

This is always a problem para sa mga bumabalik ng pinas para maghintay
ng IPA/pass nila sa SG.
I hope you enlighten me bro. thanks

Hello poh!

Ask ko lng, i invited my bf to come here in SG for 1month vacation to celebrate xmas, his b.day & new year 2gether, & job hunting as well.. But i will accompany him from the philippines. Will the ordinary invitation letter will do? Pwede ba d na AIL. Currently wla na xang work. Sa cebu xa dadaan, ok lng ba mga IO dun. May Old ID xa stating on OJT until december 31, pro dec.5 alis na kmi. Sa cebu airport then yun ID nya kc, dun xa nag training 1yr+ as aircraft mechanic. Will it be helpful?

hi!my friend and I had already book ourselves this thurs,Nov 17.We really don't have that much idea on how to get in Singapore.
What if we don't have an invitation letter?is 700sgd be enough for 5 days?anyway we're an OFW from Taiwan. We will have our vacation there instead of going home in Philippines. We're afraid that we might get denied..

Hi Elmerger,

My girlfriend and I are going to Sg next week, my concern is we're already graduated in college and we already have our job in Sg when we get there.
What if the immigration asks us if we are employed? We are currently not employed because we are waiting for the deployment in our respective company here in the Philippines.Though we have their company ID as a part of their pre-deployment. My question is do we have to show our school ID instead of our company ID? We will have our hotel accommodations aswell with the rt ticket for 3 days . Im nervous we might be rejected...

Hi ELmerger,

Your blog really a good one.

I understand from you, that you are not an immigration expert but i just would like to ask your advice just in case you've encountered such info.

I was working in Singapore for almost 5years but recently after my contract finished there's difficulty on getting a pass approval in Singapore and upon changing company I'm handling tourist pass, though my pass has been rejected, my new company applied an appeal but my stay finished 7th of December and so I went back here to Philippines but the moment I touched down Philippines, my new company called me and told me that the appeal to MOM has been approved.
The issue now is, I need to be back to Singapore on Monday but I'm worried of the issues on immigration nowadays on getting out of the country. What do you think i should do?

1stly, do I still need to book a return ticket? If needed, I was thinking of booking the return ticket, month of January assuming a month stay in there celebrating Christmas and New Year there as well, is it will work that way?
2ndly, I have my IPA and company offer with me, sent by the new company via email, would it be useful?
3rdly, are my previous employment pass copies which will serve as proof could help? Is there any better way that you could suggest if possible?

Your help/advice will be highly appreciated.

Thanks,

Mynn

Hi ELmerger,

I'm Mynn again, in addition to my message above..

Last August 2011, when I went back here to Phil with my EP that time, I got new OWWA from our Phil. Embassy there in Singapore which is valid for 24months, so I still have 20months for that.

Question is: do I still need to buy return tickets with this case?
POEA(Exit Pass/OEC) I don't have it eh. I'm quite worried due to recent issues on our immigration.

Hope you could answer me back immediately coz' i need to be back to Singapore on 12th December (monday).

Please advise.

Thank you!

Hi Elmer,
Your blog is really helpful. I chance on your blog while trying to find out if my domestic worker can go back to
the Phillipines & return here w/o applying for the OEC. I brought her in almost 2 years ago on a tourist pass & the IPA & processed her work permit straight away. That way she can get her fullbpay w/o any agent fees. Now she is due for home leave. I have renewed her work permit & security bond but have bypass the OEC. Do you think it's safe for me to bring her back as a tourist the way I did the last time? I figure there's no need to incur extra costs. she will b renewing her passport when she goes back this trip so she will havea new passport.

hey elmer i need your expert advice...

btw im margaux i used to encounter the offload situation on my first trip to singapore to spend xmas last december with my boyfriend and his family who is a citizen. i was offloaded due to incomplete documents because my roundtrip ticket is good for 17 days but after providing the documents at the same day i booked a new one way ticket and finally they let me in. and now we already booked a ticket for me to go back again to celebrate chinese new yr. and of course to be together, ill be leaving this jan.19 to feb.14, i already have the asked documents like copy of his ic and passport, roundtrip tix, IL without RED Ribbon (because they just asked for a formal IL with his info stuffs on it before), cash and my credit card extension from him plus our picture being together because before they even checked my fb acct. just to prove that we are together. my question is do you think they will offload me again after having all the documents they asked me before? and can you teach me how to deal with IO and what to do so that i wont be having a hard time dealing with them and waste money again...

btw im not working, dont even have a plan to seek employment or whatever i just wanna spend more time with him and his family

hope to hear from you soon ;)

3. is it okay that we have one invitation letter?and our names are indicated in 1 e-ticket because i used my credit card so we can have the same flight.

Hello,

Your blog is very helpful. I will be reading the rest of the comments later. But I have a question, I am planning to work in singapore by april of this year and I will be resigning also from my current job.

Why is it not advisable to tell the truth, or I mean to tell the Immigration that you will be going to Singapore to look for a job?

Hope to hear from you soon. Thanks :)

Hi, I've worked at SG for about 3mos but I resigned due to some reason. When passing tru the Sg immigration officers going back to Phils, when I give my passport together with letter (1mo social visit pass, given by MOM after cancelling my pass), sinulatan po nila ng SPASS ung likod ng passport ko. Now after 4mos I'll be going back to SG.

Hi,just wanna ask some advice from you...i've been in sg last year of january as a tourist and stayed there for 3 mnths after that i got an offer to to work and had a working permit for 6 mnths.all in all 9 mnths of stayed then gone back here in philippines and im staying for almost 4 mnths but i'm planning to comeback in sg again as a tourist.would it be possible? or i'm afraid that immigration will ask me what will i do again there n sg?some advised me to renew my passport so if its new already it can help to lessen the question from immigration as they will not see that i went there before.what do you think about this idea?i'm looking forward for your response and thank you for this blog coz it's such a big help for someone like me.thanks!

Hi Sir Elmerger,

Good day to everyone reading in this blog. This is really a big help. I've been reading your blog for a month now. I really don't know how to start my story because i'm still in shock.

I went to SG last November to be with my fiancee and to look for a job, i used to have my cousin's invitation letter a return ticket and a copy of her S PASS id. I was so lucky to passed the phil immgration and the sing immigration officer.. After 2 months of looking for a job i was being hired for so many times, however my pass was being rejected every time. So i need to go back to the phil and i did because my fiancee and i dont want to take the risk of going out to Malaysia.. so i just came here in the phils last jan 2012. after 3 weeks i received a call again in one of my employer and wants me to go back for final interview so we booked again a ticket last feb 6.. i have a return ticket invitation letter and i luckily passed again the phil immgration officer.. and the problem just started in singapore.

On my way to IO..

The IO asked what are you going to do here in SG for 2 weeks.. i said im going to visit my cousin since i dont want to used my fiancee because they might think that i'll be staying with him and look for a job.. then the IO gave my passport to the other officer and asked me to go to the interrogation room.. the problem is that they didn't bother to talked to me asked anything.. they just gave me a paper that said they refused me to enter SG? i was being shocked and started to get mad..

Then the IO said they dont know why the IO refused it and i need to find it out when i get back in Phil. They advised me to go to Singaporean Embassy here in Phil... and the time came.. airport to airport is what happened.. until now im waiting for an appointmnt to Singaporean Embassy..

Mr. Elmerger would it be possible that they tracked all my rejected pass that's why they don't bother to talked to me? Because in the Interrogation room there are lots of women that being held.. they talked to others one by one but not me..

Thank you!

Thank you!

hello elmer,

i read this blog and it did enlighten me since me and my sister were denied on the 1st attempt of going to singapore as a tourist because we had told the immigration that a friend invited us then then the immigration ask for a invitation letter but we dont have anything in hand. me and my siter are going to sg to look for a job but we'll be going there as a tourist. we already had a working experience there before as an on-the-job-training a school and agency partnership progam. after we graduated we plan to go back sg ..so for our nd attempt we already prepared an inivitation letter from our friend(our previous manager in sg) containing her ic,passport and her address, we have a return ticket, and a 5 days hotel accomodation, and a pocket money of 800sgd each, our length of stay in sg will be 5 days. we have no job. but i have an aunt who has a meatshop. she say we can use it as our work here in the philippines but the problem is we dont have a company id because we are just working as a cashier or salesperson. i remember on our 1st atempt that was been denied the immigration ask for an invitation letter an affidavit in singapore consulate something like that to prove that singapore allowed my friend to invite us. the problem is my friend just made it by herself via e-mail but she indicate there her passport, ic number and address and other info.. would still there be a possibility for us to get denied a 2nd time around?.. we are so nervous, pressured and stressed already.. we'll patiently wait for your response.. thank you and sorry for the very long story .. Good day!

I will be traveling to SG from DVO this March 30,2012. Its actually my first time to go abroad. This blog's so great. So many ideas. What bothers me is that traveling alone as a female-traveler. As what have been discussed in the blog, IOs are strict to single traveler especially female. I will be staying in SG to unwind and treat myself with my SSS salary loan. Can I ask for some advices from you Mr Elmerger . thanks much! looking forward

Hi friend after having a 2 months vacation in SG is it possible for me to come back after a month? Is there any risk? Already have my returned ticket ( 3 days stayed) and invitation letter from my husband w/red sealed. Is there any possibilities that the IMO will deny me?

I had the same experience. I bought a one-way ticket to SG and presented the In-Principle Approval letter from MOM sent to be by my employer via email (It's on a PDF format). I scheduled Feb 13 on my flight to SG and the immigration officers didn't allow me to go through. They said I have to go through POEA and get an OWWA membership and get an OEC. :-( It's probably one of the most devastating moments I ever had. I tried not to cry but I can't help it. I don't have a return ticket and the airplane will be departing in less than two hours. I offloaded my luggage and went home trying to be strong. The next day, I went to POEA...you have to get a number then stand in line...the usual government agency in the Phils. There are actually two phases in getting an OWWA membership - 1) Ensure you have all the complete requirements like, the in-principle letter, the contract from employer with signature and seal, medical exam results (I took my medical exam at Manila Doctors Hospital, quite expensive but worth it because it was accepted by MOM when I submitted my E-pass application here in Singapore), PDOS (you have to attend that seminar at POEA) and the POEA form that needs to be sent to tne employer and it has to be signed and scanned and print it again once signed. If everything is all set, then you can move to the Phase 2 which is the verification of documents, etc. Furthermore, I paid PhP 6,400+ for the POEA processing fee, Pag-ibig contribution, etc at the 5th level of POEA (cashier). All of these stuff were processed in 3 business days but POEA is saying that you can process it in one day if you have all the required documents. Therefore, you have to tell your employer to return that POEA document back to you asap. On my case, my employer sent it to me Feb 15 then went to POEA to submit on Feb 16. Then, logged in to airphils.com to book for the next day flight to SG (Feb17). As expected, no promo is available if the flight departure is the next day. I got my ticket at around 5K including the fuel surcharges, etc. Moreover, I sent a note to my contact person (land lady of the apartment) in SG that I'll be arriving in few hours. Good thing I still have a slot as bedspace somewhere near Sentosa. Then, Monday, February 20, it was my first day with my employer (as per In-Principle Approval letter, I can already work with my employer even if I have not received my E-pass card) and the IPA is valid for 6 months. Then the next day, February 21, my employer submitted the E-pass application to MOM then Feb 21, I went to MOM and submitted the IPA and other hard copy documents the February 26 I got my E-pass card. Whew. It was a loooong process but legal. Inisip ko na lang mahaba man tinahak ko, pero sa matuwid na daan naman. As mentioned by the author, the simplest way is to get a round trip ticket and the duration should be approx 3 or 4 days only and Immigration won't ask anything else.

Hi there...
I was really devastated at the IMO yesterday as its my first time were offloaded.ijust want to visit singapore for holiday for 3 days only, i had showed them my company ID,certification stating till now i was working, got roundtrip ticket,a hotel booking and my pocket money but still got DENIED! i was thinking wala bang karapatan ang isand pinay na gustong makita rin ang ibang bansa??? IMO sucks!!!!

my plan po ako mg hanap ng work sa sg again, my friend po ako n makakapag issue ng invitation letter, but my problem is, my passport has been stamp twice, first was nung nag ojt ako last 2008, then umuwi ako ng 2009... second stamp po is ng TEP ako, departure ko is 2010, bumaik ako ng pinas ng 2011. yung sa TEP, para makalabas kami ng pinas, tourist visa lang din ang giamit. at mag isa ko lang po na bababe na magtravel.Pwede po bang maquestion ng immigration yung mga tatak yun at yung mag isa lang akong bababe, even if i will present 2 way tickt plus invitation letter?

Hello.

Philippine Immigration officers are very strict now because of the new Anti- human trafficking law passed by our VICE President Binay. Some of them are just doing their job, some are not. If you're going to Singapore to look for a job, here's some of the requirements that you need to prepare.

*REMEMBER that you need to present yourself as a tourist no matter what happen.

*Book a 2 way ticket with less than one week interval. More than one week may give the BI officers a suspicion because you can tour the whole SG within one week.

*Book a hotel/hostel if you do not have any relatives or friends in SG.
REMEMBER, if tell them that you have relatives, they will surely ask if you have an invitation letter. I mean Authentic Invitation Letter from the PH embassy in SG. ONCE YOU HAVE A LETTER, YOU DO NOT NEED A HOTEL RESERVATION. If youre gonna say that you do not have any friends or relatives, just book a hotel/hostel.

*Bring a sufficient money for your travel. I think they only require 10,000 in any currency. (10k PHP, 10k SGD, 10k USD etc) So if you're holding more than 10k PHP. I suggest that you change your other peso into other currency.

*Most BI officers ask you if you have a job in PHIL. So if you have a company ID, i suggest that you bring it. If you're already resigned, Dont surrender your company ID.

***Less talk, less mistake.
Dont volunteer to provide some information or documents that the officers didnt ask.
Dress properly. Be confident and calm while answering the officers question.

Hope this helps. Thanks

HI..i hope this blog is still active since all of the comments/queries are still dated 2011.

anyway, I am from the Philippines and I already booked a ticket to Singapore this May to visit my boyfriend. he went to the Philippine embassy in singapore and asked for a format and/or requirements on how to make invitation letters but unfortunately, the person who entertained him said that he is not allowed to send me invitation letter since we are not related by blood. although I have enough money to show them that I will be going there just to visit my boyfriend and will be having a tour, I am still anxious that I might not be able to pass through the immigration officer and be denied (God forbid). I will only be staying there for a week. my boyfriend told me that he will purchase a ticket to Universal studios so that I have something to show if the people from the immigration would ask. and also, i will be resigning from the company that I worked with, the day before my flight. although I already have the employment certificate that certifies that I am still currently connected in my company, I hope the officers wont find out that I already resigned . any suggestions for this??? I hope what happened to you wont happen to me...

Hello ButterflyKisses,

Its true na dapat relative lang ang pwede makakuha ng invitation letter. Since boyfriend mo sya, at wala kang letter. Book a hotel/hostel. Madaming hostel ang hindi required ng downpayment. wala ding charge. Pag no show charge nila ng first day then cancelled. Ok na yun masayang yung first day mura lang naman yon, kesa mag book ka sa hotel na full payment ang required upon booking. Bring your company ID and your Certification of Employment. But do not show them agad. Kung ano lang yung hiningi, yun lang ang ipakita mo.

hello Anonymous,

Since you're gonna present yourself as a tourist. Book a 2 way ticket with 1-5 days interval. Hotel/ hostel accommodation. Since 6 months ka na naman sa pinas, ok na siguro yan. Bsta be confident sa pagsagot sa IO.

hi Mr. elmerger! good evening!
I just want to ask. Me and my mom is going for a vacation in singapore next next week. We don't have any invitation letter (because i'm thinking if I have one, immigration will just ask from who and what relation I have with the person i got my invi letter from), but we will be booking round trip flights and maybe a hotel accommodation also. Will that be enough? I'm worried because a year ago I went to singapore as a mgt trainee (for my OJT) and Immigration officer will see that in my passport I stayed in sg for one whole year. Maybe they'll get suspicious? some more, I don't have a job yet here in PH.

Hi Elmer,

Thanks for the article and nice blog.

Currently I'm in SG for 24 days looking for a job. My 30 day SVP ends soon. I already applied online to extend SVP period and rejected. Now I'm hoping to go to Malaysia (today got Malaysian visa) and come back to SG on 29th Day. (I have a return ticket on 30th day).

I know most probably SG immigration will not allow me to enter SG. But what are the impacts for my immigration records of that?

Deny the entry mean will they put any stamp on my passport and/or update their records with this refusal? Any other impacts for future tours to SG?

Thanks,

Praneeth

were planning to have a "vacation" in SG to actually find a job.we've been there when we are trainees.so we already experience what it's like and we'd like to come back, so we are planning to book a group tour for 3-4 for vacation inclusion of roundtrip ticket,3days2nights accomodation and city tour so if i may ask do we need anything else to pass the immigration..and i have a sister working there do i need to ask her an invitation though we're only assuming a vacation? and her concern was my accomodation after the 3days 2nights stay at a hotel..cause we're planning to stay for one month to find a job..and she said that for rent accomodation usually are hard to find and will ask for 1 month advance and 1 month deposit so that two months and \i personally will not stay long as one month can you suggest some options?

thank you.^^,

Hi Sir,

Good Day.

Like your other bloggers, I am also planning to go to Singapore to find a job. As what the others scenarios will just pretend that I will just stay for a tourist. Can you help me answer my queries?

1. is there a possiblities, if I am already in SG and had my return ticket (5 days) to call for rebooking for me to use the 30 days social visit visa?

2. is there a chance for me to pass the IO'S since i am a male and first time to be out of the country?

3. should I present a scanned copy of my friend passport for them to belive that i will be coming back?

Thank you.

I have some questions to ask..

If IPA In principles approval already approved what are the documents required in going back to singapore so that I will not encounter problem with the Immigration Officer? what should I do If I already have The IPA?

I hope anybody's suggestion, opinion would be a great help of me in this situation.. thanks in advance..

since i dont work here eversince in the philippines can i just bring our family business dti permit and mayors bus. permit because im the one whos dealing with our suppliers.. do you think its enough?

hoping for a reply.. thank you somuch!

Exactly the same thing happen to me :) I presented myself at terminal 1 with one way ticket and the In principal Approval and the immigration officer put stamp on my passport so i said thank you but after passing the immigration other officer stop me and they said to do 2nd inspection and yeah they told me to get a certificate from POEA so my air ticket was wasted as they off loaded me... i went to POEA but they need a contract that was verified by POLO but my employer back in Singapore refuse to provide so i decided to go to Bangkok after 4 days from june 30th so i booked a hotel and a two way ticket together with my friend for 3 days but at the immigration they inspect me again questioning my stamp last June so that became a reason for them to stop me again its a bullshit why they want to stop again as i am going to Thailand and not singapore so now I decided to give up my Spass or the In principal approval as i can present my self to Singapore because of this Philippine Immigration...

hi, will be going to SG with my dad this August for 2 reasons: vacation and at the same time so I can look for a Job. let me put things into perspective:

1. will be there for 8-days. we have round trip tickets
2. we have a relative at SG but we dont have an invitation letter. we are thinking of staying with them or stay at a hotel for a few days (3days) then the rest of the days will be staying with the relative.
3. still employed and i plan to bring my company ID. will tell the immigration that we will go there for a vacay only.

Questions:
1. Will the immigration (both SG and MLA), check our bags -like open it entirely and check the content of our luggage?
2. we dont have a planned tour/itinerary because when we get there, that's the time where we are going to plan our tour, will we pass through the immigration successfully?
3. will i bring copies of resumes and credentials? or we can just print it there? if print it there, how much will it cost and do they actually have internet cafes for us to print my resume?
4. during the immigration interview, shall i show them right away our pocket money? or just the passport and tickets for the meantime?
5. we have a relative at SG but we dont have an invitation letter. we are thinking of staying with them or stay at a hotel for a few days (3days) then the rest of the days will be staying with the relative. --- or we dont tell the immigration officer that we have a relative there and just tell them that we will book a hotel?

hope you can answer my queries.

thanks!

hi, i was recently denied and offloaded just last july 10, the immigration officer gave me a hard time asking me abt my job, my salary etc. i showed her a return ticket and gave her the name of the friend i am visiting as well as his address, she said she can't let me board the plane because she thinks i'm not coming back?! that's it, SHE JUST THINKS i am not coming back just because she found out i am an english teacher?!

i missed my flight, needless to say wasted a big amount of money because i am not able to rebook nor refund my ticket going to KL, i am somehow traumatized with the lack of consideration on their part, just because im travelling alone, a 32 year old single woman wanting to visit a friend in Malaysia doesnt mean i don't have a life back here in the philippines and that i would opt to stay in Malaysia illegally!!!

someone advised me to find someone else going to Malaysia on the same flight as I do and stick with her because they are just very strict with single women travelling alone. so now if there is someone there or group of people travelling to KL on the 15th on a 7:40 flight on airphilexpress can i tag along?

I'm planning to let him fly with my bf for them to look like only having a vcation. I am afraid if they can pass the imigration. I'm planning to get a package tour for them thinking it will make things easier. My problem is, if my sister will not go back to the philippines, the tour agency will do something to report her as a missing person. :-D

First of all your blog is great!

well, this is my scenario, I worked in sg for 6months then my contract ended(for I was holding a TEP only.) I'm currently in PH, and my s-pass just got approved. I have my TEP with me, and I've talked to some people in the gov't sector, they said that I can process my OEC using only my IPA. so my question is: Is OEC and IPA enough to get through PH immigration? Will the IO still ask for my IC? If it's not, what else should I prepare?

I'm working in Dubai and I wanted to take my fiance here, so both of us are here working for our bright future.

I want to take her here as a Visit Visa. but unfortunately I have heard lots of stories from friends about their own relative getting offloaded.

now were planning to get here a return ticket to Singapore. without know by the Philippine Immigration that she's really going to Dubai.
we will get return ticket Singapore/Dubai/Singapore

my question is what does Singapore Immigration Requirements for this?
does this will solve our problem with Philippine Immigration?

Hello, i just want to ask what preparations are needed when you go to singapore. Im afraid that i might be denied in the immigration. My bestfriend and I are going there on february 25,2013 to look for a job. We both have already resigned in our respected companies. For now im still in my company waiting for my effectivity which will be on the first week of february. We both decided to quit our jobs and go to singapore to look for a job there. What im so scared about is that we miht be denied. Here are some of my questions:

1.) I have a cousin who is working in Singapore. I asked him if i could stay with him while looking for a job. And he said it's okay. Do i still need an invitation letter from him to show it to the immigration?

2.) I have alreayd booked a ticket but has not paid it yet. It's a two way ticket and for 7 days. my plan is just to extend my stay when im already in singapore. Is there a possibility that i might be denied for the 7-days plane ticket? What should be the best thing to do?

3.) Both my bestfriend and I are leaving on the same day, might this trigger the denial in immigration?

4.)Im planning to introduce as a tourist, what possible questions or requirements would they ask from me?

5.) Should i book a hotel, just to show it to the immigration? or telling that im staying with my cousin is good enough.

6.) If i extend my stay there, would the immigration question it if ever i go back to the philippines? (just in case if i couldnt find a job their)

7.) How much amount of money do i need to bring if i stay there for 3-5 weeks? (assuming i have accomodation already, since i will be staying with my cousin).

I look forward to your response Mr.Elmer. Badly need an advice. Coz i dont have any idea and a bit scared of what might happen when i get to the airport.

Thank you. GOD BLESS!

I had been wondering if your web hosting is OK? Not that I'm complaining, but sluggіsh loаding instanсes times ωіll somеtimes affect yοur placemеnt

you got a company ID so i think IOs will not ask about your financial capacity but if ever they will ask 2500USD is too much for a 5-7 days vacation..but it also depends on a traveler's lifestyle

to the post on JAN 15 2013 who will be departing on FEB 25

1. If u will mention that u'll be staying with a relative particularly a cousin, the chief IO will need proof that u r blood related, original NSO copies, yours and the cousin. Photocopy of his IC, OWWA/ POEA and of course his invitaionn letter. (this is true in NAIA 1 if and only if u'll undergo the secondary inspection by filling up the border control questionnaire)

2. lower the days (3-5) and pls pay your tickets but if cant do that, needs higher amt of money or credit cards

3. No problem but yuor friend's name must be included in the IL

4. they will usually ask about your current employment

5. staying with your cousin is enough

6. never ever mention that u will extend

7. Big NO to spend 3-5 wks in SG. 10-20k is enough as pocket money for a very few days

But at the end it all depends if u will be very lucky to have a very nice IO.

check again the the anti trafficking guidelines because they would always mention that..just know how to defend yourselves courteously even if deep inside you want to hit them! Good luck & God bless!!!
