Planning to visit Singapore for several days? Do you want to see the Merlion, ride inside the Singapore Flyer, shop in Orchard Road or feed the giraffes or kangaroos in the Singapore zoo but don't have enough time? You don't want to be a part of the normal tour and want to explore Singapore on your own time? If yes is the answer in any of the questions here, then take my hand and let's jump into the world of daytrips. (This is just a metaphor. Please continue reading after the jump and ignore my emo-ness.)
Singapore has many places of interest for vacationers like you. I myself haven't been able to visit them all. But my goal here is to give you an idea on how to visit those beautiful places depending on the time needed to fully appreciate and enjoy your daytrip. Our first daytrip adventure is the Singapore Zoo.
In A Nutshell

The Singapore zoo is located on the central part of the island of Singapore. There are many option to get there, two of them is either by bus or taxi. You can also walk or bike your way to the zoo, but it's a bit far so let's just focus on the bus and taxi. Make your way to Ang Mo Kio bus interchange, and board bus number 138 which goes directly to the zoo. Another way to the Singapore zoo is alighting at Choa Cho Kang MRT station and boarding bus 927. If you have an extra $20 and don't want to waste time waiting for the bus, then just hail a taxi and tell Uncle the taxi driver to drop you at Singapore zoo. Again, if you're checked in near the city area, taxi to the zoo will cost you about $20. Taking the bus ride will probably cost you around $2 - $3.(I haven't taken the bus ride to Singapore zoo)

To make you more interested and not spoil the fun when going to the Singapore zoo, I will not be giving specific details here. Just make sure to allot one whole day for this activity to enjoy the Singapore zoo.

Going to Singapore next month and really looking forward to the zoo. Do you think most activities can be done in a day with two kids aged 2 and 4?
Hello Michael,
Thanks for your comment. Sorry for the very delayed response.. I just got back from a 1 week vacation with my newborn.
For your question, I'm not that sure since I haven't tried going to the zoo with kids.. But I think you can go around the Singapore Zoo in a day with your kids. I think its possible to do most activities in one day
